WSF World Doubles Squash Championships Day One: Preview & How to Watch Live

It’s day one in Scotstoun, Glasgow, as the WSF World Doubles Championships returns after a COVID-enforced hiatus.

In a hectic day of full-throttle action, there are a whopping 36 matches to look forward to, with play beginning at 11:00 (local time, BST).

Day one of the championship will be broadcast live on Youtube, the WSF and Scottish Squash Facebook pages and on the Olympic Channel, with BBC iPlayer and SQUASHTV also broadcasting the later rounds.

Play begins on court one with men’s top seeds England – represented by former World No.1 James Willstrop and Declan James – taking on Tsz Kwan Lau and Henry Leung of Hong Kong, China.

Hosts Scotland feature six times on court one, with Georgia Adderley and Lisa Aitken the first duo to go in front of the home cheers when they take on English duo Georgina Kennedy and Lucy Turmel 11:45. They are joined by Alan Clyne and Douglas Kempsell plus Greg Lobban and Rory Stewart, with Lobban and Aitken featuring in three matches on the opening day.

Also in action today is men’s World No.1 Paul Coll. The two-time champion is part of a top-seeded mixed partnership women’s World No.5 Joelle King, with the pair facing Hong Kong, China’s Chi Him Wong and Ka Yi Lee at 14:30. King is in action again later today, with the 33-year-old involved in another top-seeded partnership, this time with Amanda Landers Murphy – with whom she won the 2016 and 2017 championships – with the pair taking on Australia’s Alex Haydon and Jessica Turnbull at 18:00.

Joining Haydon and Turnbull on court one for Australia, who are defending champions in all three events, are men’s No.3 seeds Zac Alexander and Ryan Cuskelly, they face Malaysia’s Addeen Idrakie and Sai Hung Ong at 18:45.
